LOKOJA TRADITIONAL COUNCIL CELEBRATES LOKOJA DAY

It was a celebration galore in Lokoja the state capital, as sons and daughters and who is who both home and in diaspora all gathered at Magari’s palace to celebrate Lokoja day.

 

Ilustrious indigenes of Lokoja were seen in different attires, traditional ragalias, beating of drums, also traditional dancers displaying to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the area and to add colours and adoration to the ceremony.

 

In his opening address, the chairman of the planning committee, Alhaji Ali Lawal Jiya, the Mayaki of Lokoja gave a brief historical background on how Lokoja came to being in 1806.

 

The chairman of the occasion also admonished the importance of Lokoja day as it will go along way to preserve the historical records for the new generation and the generations yet unborn.

 

In his closing remarks, the Maigari of Lokoja, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Gambo Muhammed Maikarfi “4” expressed his happiness for the successful hosting of the occasion and thanked and shows appreciation to those that graced the ceremony.

 

He prayed for peace, unity and development of the area.

 

Alhaji Zakari Abubakar Ola was amongst one of the dignitaries that was present at the occasion as he stormed the venue with his large numbers of supporters and political associates.
