The replica of what happened in 2023, when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wanted to seized power from the then ruling party, All Peoples Party (APP) in Kogi State, seems to repeat same come 2027, but this time under the platform of Africa Democratic Party (ADC).
Then Senator Tunde Ogbeha’s residence was the base where all in the opposition party PDP from across the three senatorial districts aligned together inorder to wrestle power from Late Prince Abubakar Audu who was then the governor of the state.
The stage is now set again, as members and supporters of Africa Democratic Party (ADC) from Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency gathered at Senator Ogbeha’s residence to strategise and fine tune on how to capture power from the ruling party APC in the state and nigeria as a whole.
The gathering witnessed long time political associates and friends both new and old faces from different political parties exchanged pleasantries and chant the way forward for the party.
In his opening address, the Lakpini of Lokoja, highlighted the aims and objectives of the Africa Democratic Party (ADC), as enshrined in the its constitution and that the party belongs to everybody with everyone having equal rights.
The once two term Senator and general in the nigeria Army appealed to every members to drop off all their political differences whether you are PDP, SDP, APC, LP or belong any other political parties that formed the coalition the most paramount thing is to work in unison inorder to achieve success in 2027.
He also lamented about the economic hardship nigerians are facing, most especially the insecurity, high cost of living and many more, then tasked all members to work hard in ensuring success for the party.
In his own contributions, the former Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Alh Musa Ahmadu told the audience that there’s no impossibility that is not possible urged members to drop that believe of power of incumbency, saying, a sitting president or governor can be defeated as it happened in Malawi.
Ahmadu charged members to persuade and lure their political associates and friends from other parties to join the ADC. He cautioned those whose one leg in and one leg out to be steadfast and decide now and join the party rather than waiting for the food to be ready before coming to the party, it’s better you cook the food together so that at the end you enjoy the taste of the food together.
As for the membership registrations, the two leaders said temporary membership registrations will be taken place in all the wards and local government areas pending when the permanent registrations will take place. They assured members things are taking good shape at the top and that by next year ADC activities will be unveil properly.
Some top party members at the high table includes:- Hon. Yabagi Bologi, a one time council chairman and commissioner in the state, Hon. Danladi Bababudon and Dr. Idris both fmr house of assembly members, Hon. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Balga, one time senatorial chairman and host of others.
