Recently, former Benue State Commissioner for finance, Dr David Olofu, has officially declared his intention to contest the Benue South Senatorial District seat under Africa Democratic Party (ADC).
Olofu drawing massive support and receiving royal blessings from traditional rulers in Apa and Agatu local government areas of the state, pledged to provide laudable legislation if voted into power.
At separate ceremonies held in Ugbokpo and Obagaji, Dr Olofu, who is also the president of the Apa Legacy and Sustainability Initiatives, was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Ojimeli K’Apa by the Odejo of K’Apa, Chief John Antenyi.
The royal father invoked the ancestral spirit of Apa (Alekwu) and prayed for Olofu’s success, declaring, Tabeje, tabeje, tabeje. All my predecessors will fight for you to bring home victory. And the Almighty God will lead you to victory ”
Similarly, the Ada ‘Agatu, Dr Godwin Onah, offered his blessings and urged all sons and daughters of Agatu to rally behind Olofu’s senatorial ambition.
“We thank God that we now have someone who has volunteered to contest the position, and it is incumbent on us to support him stoutly, Dr Onah said.
Addressing traditional leaders and supporters at the ADC secretariats in both councils, Dr Olofu unveiled his development blueprint for Benue South, pledging to leverage his public service experience to attract investment and infrastructure to the area.
He said “if given the opportunity, I know how to leverage on government to attract development projects to all the nooks and crannies of Benue South Senatorial District.
The former finance Commissioner further promised to establish industrial corridors across the district to tackle unemployment and insecurity while harnessing the economic potential of the River Benue and the region’s mineral resources for sustainable growth.
The declaration ceremony drew large crowds of enthusiastic supporters, with community leaders and party officials describing Dr Olofu as a leader with a track record of generosity, citing his scholarship and women empowerment schemes that have impacted many within the district.
