The Africa Democratic Congress, (ADC) stormed Kabba, the headquarters of Kogi West to unveiled the party, as members, supporters and sympathisers tumultuously turn out to attend the ceremony in a grand style, hence adding more colours and adoration to the occasion.
The unveiling ceremony witnessed who is who in the political arena of Kogi West and other senatorial districts of the state. Some members of APC and other political parties were also in attendance to have a glimpse of the occasion inorder to make up their mind to join the rescue team.
In his keynote address, the North Central leader of the party, Senator Tunde Ogbeha, described the unveiling as a “new dawn for ADC in Kogi West and the entire state” stressing that the party’s mission to rescue Nigeria must be powered by unity and determination.
The Lakpini of Lokoja, reaffirmed the expulsion of Hon. Leke Abejide from ADC, stating that ” he behaves like a motor park tout and will not fly the ADC ticket in 2027″. Ogbeha further stated that the ADC is well positioned to secure victory in the next electoral cycle, urging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation and political education across communities.
According to the General, “Our mission is to provide a platform where the voices of the people are heard and respected”, he said “we are committed to transparency, inclusion, and creating opportunities for every citizen in Kogi West. “True development begins at the local level and ADC will ensure that no community is left behind”
The Okwunba of Nri Kingdom also disclosed that recently, Hon. Leke Abejide gathered some political bandits in Lokoja inorder to undermine the party, saying Abejide is no longer a member of the party and that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party has expelled him from the party, hence called on members, supporters, sympathisers, well wishers and the general public to disassociate themselves from him as the party will not condone any act of indiscipline and anti party activities from any member. “How can you Abejide claimed to be a member of ADC and campaigning for a presidential candidate in another party ” he said.
On whether the ADC will field in candidates in the forthcoming October 2026 local government election, the Lakpini said, if the process will be transparent, the party will field in candidates in various elective positions.
However, a committee was set up to be chaired by Barrister Justina Abanida, the former SSG, with other members to come out with modalities for credible candidates for the council election, and those without questionable character and with financial capability.
He appealed to Nigerians, particularly the people of Kogi West, to rally behind ADC in the quest to rescue the nation from hardship and restore good governance.
