A hopeful Kogi West Senatorial Aspirant, Ustaz Alh. Zakari Abubakar Ola, arrived the Muhammadu Buhari Square Lokoja, the venue of the occasion like a thunder storm, where the party officially welcome decampees from other political parties to the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.
Zakari was escorted to the venue with large numbers of his supporters mostly youths and various support groups across the the seven local government areas of Kogi West, chanting his slogans and the party’s slogan.
Ustaz Zakari was well received by the party officials and party faithfuls to the admiration of audience and important dignitaries both home and Abuja that came to grace the occasion.
His rousy arrival sent shocks down the nerves of oppositions of proponent of agitation for the senate seat to Lokoja/Kogi (Koton-Karfe) federal constituency come 2027.
When accosted by Confluence Times Online, why he want to run the senate seat of Kogi West, his reply was short and simple. ” I found out that my constituency lack purposeful representation over the years and I found the need to make consultations about what they need. The consultation made me realize that my people are so disconnected from governance at all levels. So having seen all these, I decided to heed the call of my people to run for the position. You can see what is happening in Kogi Central as a result of good representation but I don’t want to mention name, you journalist knows what am talking about. So that’s my answer to your question. Good representation will take care of all other things”.
Meanwhile, one of the arrow heads of his campaign organization, a Royal Prince, Alhaji Yerima said in a clear terms, that his principal’s aspiration is for the good people of Kogi West, no confrontation, remain focus to give good representation to the area and nothing short of that. Good representation will take care of all other things.
The Zakari Ola Support Group (ZOSG) said they are still on agitation for the senate seat to Lokoja/Kogi Koton-Karfe federal constituency come 2027
They hinged their facts, that the Okun speaking area are holding on to the senate seat for almost 20 years and that if the Senator Sunday Karimi eventually secure second term, it will amount to 24 years, then where do you place Lokoja/Koto Koton-Karfe federal constituency.
The group lamented, that our Okun brothers want Governor and at the same time the senate, haba! let fair be fair, equity be equity. How can they be treating us like second fiddles when we have our votes that can be table for discussion and negotiations. We can align our votes with whoever is ready to partner with us politically.
They also pointed out, that the recent juicy appointments made, all were concentrated in Okun land without preference to Lokoja/Kogi Koton-Karfe, saying, they still stands for fairness, equity and justice.
They pledged their total support for Zakari Abubakar Ola, the incoming ( ZAKASHA) of Kogi West and the Senatorial District in general.
